ALPHABETTES Mentor. The Alphabettes Mentorship Program is an international, volunteer based program that connects Mentors in the fields of type, typography or the lettering arts with Mentees of all experience levels. Currently mentoring Raphael Alegbeleye, from Nigeria, living in Miami.

AIGA Board, Kansas City, Vice President of Education. National Association for Design (AIGA). Nominated for a two year term. Monthly meetings in Kansas City. The Education VP is responsible for achieving the education agenda of AIGA through student and education-oriented programming and events.

Scout KC Virtual workshop, AIGA KC. Organized and hosted a two-day virtual workshop with 8 presentations and roundtable discussions. National event open to current students, recent grads and emerging designers
Scout KC Virtual Portfolio Reviews, aIGA KC. Organized and hosted five sessions of Virtual Portfolio Reviews over 40 current students, recent grads and emerging designers met with designers one on one for feedback and mentorship.
Scout KC, Scout Nights, AIGA KC. Organized and hosted sessions with recruiters or design directors in the Kansas City area. Free and open nationally to current students, recent grads, emerging designers and designers looking to move from one job to another. Three separate events with Hallmark Cards, Barkley and Whiskey Design.

AIGA Board, Kansas City, Director of Education & Student Groups. National Association for Design (AIGA). Nominated for a two year term (served three). Worked closely and liaison with the Student Groups (both locally & regionally) to develop appropriate programming, support needs, help with retention and answer all education-related questions. Responsible for establishing a network of educators within the community and advance the visibility of and awareness for AIGA’s role among young professionals.

UCDA Design Education Summit. The University & College Designers Association (UCDA) inspires designers working in academia in North America and around the world by delivering relevant programming and benefits in a personal and thoughtful way. The organization provides for the professional and personal growth of its members, and advocates for designer and educators roles within their institution. UCDA works to elevate the importance of design overall. Co-chair with Professor Jeremy Shellhorn. We organized a 3-day conference Designing Designing: Examining how we do what we do. Tasks included working with the main office of UCDA, organizing the call for papers, peer reviews, presentations, exhibition, hotels, transportation, activities and volunteers.

Community Engagement Consortium. Nominated. The Community Engagement Consortium is an initiative to improve coordination of service learning, community engagement, and civic engagement efforts including through curriculum and scholarship. The Consortium supports coordinated efforts across institutional-level partners (including various KU campuses, colleges, schools, research institutes, and centers) to advance community engagement at KU through the Carnegie Community Engagement Reclassification process and construction of KU’s Campus Compact Civic Action Plan. Meets quarterly.

Academic Program Coordinating Committee. Appointed. Newly formed Academic Program Advisory Committee is charged with the review new program proposals and courses, particularly in areas where duplication may occur (or perceived to occur). The committee includes 12 Associate Deans/Deans from units around the University and reports to the Provost Office. Meets Monthly.

University and Faculty Senate. Nominated. The University Senate recommends rules, regulations, and policies on behalf of the University’s faculty, staff and students. It consists student members, staff members, and thirty‑nine Faculty members elected to the Faculty Senate. The Faculty Senate is the elected voice of over 1,500 faculty members.

CIO Strategic Advisory Council. The goal of the committee is to take a high-level view, and ask ourselves, “What do we want from technology? What do our students, faculty, and staff want and need?” The results of these conversations will directly influence the upcoming “2020 Vision” strategic plan and lay the foundation for years to come. Senior Administrative Fellows. The University of Kansas Senior Administrative Fellows program is based on the philosophy from the American Council on Education (ACE) fellows. A total of five to eight faculty members are selected from nominations each year as Senior Administrative Fellows. The Fellows work together for approximately four hours per month in exploration of the “nuts and bolts” of senior administration at KU. Nominated.

For disputes involving alleged academic misconduct or alleged violations of student rights, the initial hearing normally will be at the unit level, however, there is an option to hold an initial hearing at the Judicial Board level. Visual Identity Committee (VIC). The University of Kansas The committee is a sub committee of the KU Marketing Council. The VIC is charged with analyzing and the current university visual identity, making recommendations, and eventually overseeing the redesign and implementation of a new KU visual identity. Appointed.
